Student Summit

Hi I'm Jessica and I had Innovation, Invention (Design) of Google. I didn't really have any communication with the people in my group, which kind of made things a little difficult but I still got a lot of good information out of it. I learned how to use a lot of new digital tools like, movie maker, blogs, the ning, the wiki, and much more. I really enjoyed researching the information because I learned something new each time.

Keynote Reflection

I use quite a few different technology tools, a couple of them being Twitter, Facebook, and Edmodo. All these tools help out a lot with our education in a couple different ways. Some of those being, not everyone has each others phone numbers, when you need help on projects and you need to get ahold of a teacher them having Twitter or Edmodo helps a lot because you can easily access the information and the answers to the questions that you have.

The Flat Classroom project that I am in, I have a profile set up with my name and some information about me. This makes it a lot easier for me to communicate with people in my class and my teacher. With the outsource video I used for my movie that I made, it came in handly because I posted something on a website and then ended up having a video posted for me from a girl from a different school that is my friend on my profile. I could then download the video she sent me from her school computer, to my school computer.

This helps me prepare to be able to communicate with people all over the world. I want to go to beauty school and then someday hopefully open my own salon and using all of these technology tools taught me how I can post and even advertise what I have to offer for my salon. Sometimes people say that they think that communicating through the internet makes people less social and makes it harder for them to do things in person because they don't acutally talk to people over the internet, but I think that is wrong. I think that the internet introduces people to new people that they could have never possibly met if it wasn't for the technology that we use to communicate in this day and age.

I can use them because I am social enough to no tbe afraid to ask people questions on my profile, this project made me stronger in different places. I am not afraid to ask questions to people on Flat Classroom because everyone else was asking some of the same questions that I was asking. I think that I could have asked more questions myself and I feel like I should have gone through and tried to help others out by answering their questions.

Digital Citizenship

The main use of this blog that I’m using is for my Digital communication tools class and it will help me organize and be able to share posts and things that I have learned with others. Digital citizenship is how you act online, just like with being a citizen of the city we live in. Your digital citizenship matters a lot because the way you act online should resemble how you act in person. My digital profile for the most part is good. I use most of my social networking for communicating with my family so I respect the fact that they see what I post and keep what I post limited so I’m not tempted to say something that I wouldn’t want them to see. After learning about how everything you post on the internet is never really gone after you delete it really freaked me out considering that there are probably something’s that I have posted that was posted. This has made me be more careful about what I post.
